Odysseus’s Feast of Honor

By Joshua B., 5th Grade

In Greece King Menelaus saw that Helen was gone. When he found out Paris, prince of Troy, kidnapped Helen, he got extremely angry. Menelaus collected kings and the best warriors of Greece. They gathered one thousand ships to Troy. Because of their huge army they thought they would win, but their hopes came down when they saw the thick wall all around Troy. Odysseus, who was one of the warriors, had a plan. He exclaimed he had a plan that would defeat Troy. Odysseus, who wasn’t confident, resolutely told the plan that would defeat Troy.

They would pretend that Troy won. So they quickly constructed a wooden horse and put thirty solders inside. They put wheels because Troy had to drag them behind the walls.

Troy thought they won, so they quickly dragged it in. The soldiers, who were very quiet, attacked Troy, yelling. They stole Helen and brought her back to Menelaus. He got so happy that he made a feast of honor to Odysseus.
