The Power of Persuasion: Lessons from Great Speeches (Grades 7-10)

  • Rose Writing Center 229 East 85th Street New York, NY, 10028 United States (map)

In this workshop, students will examine a short excerpt from a memorable speech and learn how writers use repetition, parallel structure, emotional appeal, and strong word choice to persuade an audience. Students will then practice using these techniques in a short persuasive paragraph or mini-speech of their own.
